On July 15, 2024, Nansha District leaders represented by Deputy Secretary Xie Wei of the Party Working Committee of Nansha Development Zone, Director Xie Xiaohui of the Commerce Bureau, and Director Zheng Huirong of Nansha Foreign Affairs Office visited the Consulate General of the Republic of Vanuatu in Guangzhou and were warmly received by Consul General Jacques Himford. The two sides had friendly exchanges and in-depth discussions during the meeting.

The meeting mainly focused on the possibility of opening a direct route from Nansha Cruise Home Port to Vanuatu, the establishment of an "International Friendly City" between the capital Port Vila and Nansha District, and the pre-organization of a non-profit organization in Nansha to promote friendly exchanges between the two sides.

Consul General Jacques Himford said that during the more than one year he lived in Nansha, he felt the beautiful environment of Nansha, the convenient transportation and the enthusiasm of the people of Nansha, and he felt very comfortable. He hoped that this exchange would drive further cooperation between the two industries.

This meeting promoted friendly exchanges between Vanuatu and Nansha, and is expected to further deepen the substantive cooperation between the two sides in areas such as tourism and fisheries, and achieve a higher level of mutual benefit and win-win results.
