Infrastructure in Vanuatu

Vanuatu is actively attracting investment from governments and enterprises around the world in infrastructure construction such as electricity, domestic water, sea and air transportation, road terminals and communications. Among them, air transport and ocean transport, highway wharf construction, communication as the main industries to attract investment.


At present, there are only 1,858 kilometers of roads in China, including 691 kilometers of dirt roads, 1,056 kilometers of gravel roads and 111 kilometers of asphalt roads. By 2026, the country needs to cement or asphalte 3,500 kilometers of its road network;


Vanuatu has two deepwater terminals, namely Port Vila (228m water depth, annual average import container 1600-1700) and Santo Port (200m water depth). By the end of 2020, there are about 600 internationally registered ships and 92 domestically registered commercial ships. By 2028, the country will need to build five deepwater terminals with a capacity of 100,000 tons;


Aviation capital Vila International Airport can fly Boeing 767 and 737 aircraft, there are 23 weekly international flights to Sydney, Brisbane, Auckland, Numia, Nandi, Solomon and other places. The expansion of Santo Airport was completed in July 2005 and will become an international airport. According to the direct flight agreement signed with China, Vanuatu will need large passenger planes with long distance direct flights. Meanwhile, Air Vanuatu will open the contract right of air routes, allowing competent enterprises to participate in the operation of international and domestic routes in Vanuatu.

Vanuatu encourages investors to participate in the development of the communications industry, enabling domestic and international data transmission, construction and retransmission technology, installation and maintenance of PABX, telex, mobile telephone (GSM system) and network services (dial-up and private line Internet, currently free of ASDL and broadband).
