On April 15, 2024, Jacques Himford, Consul General of Vanuatu in Guangzhou, and his delegation visited Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province. Yu Jinfu, Deputy Secretary of the Yangjiang Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, warmly met with them. The visit aims to strengthen friendly cooperation between the two sides and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.

Consul General Jacques Himford expressed his gratitude for the warm reception from the Yangjiang Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government. He pointed out that Yangjiang is an important node city on the Maritime Silk Road, while Vanuatu is located in the southern extension of the "21st Century Maritime Silk Road". The two places have similarities in terms of geographical environment and resource endowment. He hopes that the two sides can give full play to their respective resource advantages, strengthen pragmatic cooperation, and jointly write a new chapter of friendly cooperation under the framework of the "Belt and Road" initiative, so as to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results and continuously improve people's well-being.

On behalf of the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, Yu Jinfu warmly welcomed the arrival of Consul General Jacques Himford and his delegation, and briefly introduced the economic and social development of Yangjiang. He pointed out that Yangjiang has a long history and culture, a superior geographical location, rich marine resources and distinctive industrial characteristics.

Vanuatu will further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Yangjiang, and looks forward to working with Yangjiang to deepen cooperation in multiple fields such as marine economy, modern agriculture, economy and trade, and promote the friendly relations between the two places to a new level.
