No matter what the election results are, it cannot change the fact that there is only one China in the world and Taiwan is a part of China. He also called on the international community to respect the sovereignty of the People's Republic of China over Taiwan and support the maintenance of peace and security across the Taiwan Strait. The one-China policy is the cornerstone of the Vanuatu government's development of relations with China. Vanuatu is willing to continue to deepen its comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with China on the basis of mutual respect and non-interference in each other's internal affairs.
